HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR SWIMSUIT?

To keep your swimsuit in great condition throughout the summer – and wearable next year – proper care is essential. How you wash and dry it is absolutely crucial. No one looks good in a stretched-out, wrinkled swimsuit, and misshaped bra cups can seriously ruin your look. So how should you wash your swimsuit?

1. Rinse your swimsuit after every use

Even if you didn’t spend all day at the pool, you should rinse your swimsuit. Salt, chlorine and sunscreen residue can permanently damage it. Start by taking a shower while wearing your swimsuit – a common habit after leaving the pool or sea. Use a bit of shower gel and gently soap the swimsuit, then rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Never leave your wet swimsuit rolled up or in a bag.

Prolonged exposure to chlorinated or salty water can cause fabric discolouration.

2. Hand wash only

Untie all straps before washing. Pay special attention to decorative or jewellery-like elements, as these tend to lose their shine and become damaged quickly if mishandled. It’s also worth drying them carefully with a cloth. Soak the swimsuit for 15–30 minutes in lukewarm water (around 40°C) with a small amount of detergent for delicate fabrics. Rinse thoroughly to remove any remaining detergent.

3. Drying

Never tumble-dry swimsuits or lingerie. Lay them flat to dry away from direct sunlight, which can cause colours to fade.

Don’t hang bras by the straps – they will stretch and lose elasticity.

4. Always wear your oldest swimsuit in the jacuzzi

Avoid using laminated or embellished Lycra in hot tubs. The heat and chlorine will quickly damage the fabric. If you're a jacuzzi fan, buy a cheap swimsuit just for that purpose – so you won’t mind when it wears out fast.

Damage caused by not following these care instructions cannot be grounds for complaint.
