HOW TO CARE FOR A SWIMSUIT?

For a swimsuit to stay in good shape throughout the summer and serve us well the following year too, it needs to be handled properly. It turns out that how you wash and dry it is absolutely crucial. No one looks good in a stretched-out, creased swimsuit, and misshapen bra cups can do real damage to your appearance. So how should you wash a swimsuit?

1. Rinse your swimsuit after every use

Even if you have not spent the whole day at the pool, you still need to rinse your swimsuit. Salt, chlorine and traces of sun oil can permanently damage your swimsuit. To begin with, it is best to take a shower in your swimsuit. This is a standard thing we do when leaving the pool or coming out of the sea. Use a small amount of shower gel and soap up the swimsuit. Then rinse it thoroughly with warm water.

Never leave a wet swimsuit rolled up or in a bag.

Prolonged exposure to chlorinated water or sea salt may cause discolouration of the fabric.

2. Wash your swimsuit by hand only

Before washing, untie all strings. Pay particular attention to decorative elements and jewellery, which often embellish swimsuits. With improper use, they become dull and damaged very quickly. It is also worth drying them thoroughly after washing. Soak the swimsuit for 15–30 minutes in lukewarm water (approx. 40 degrees) with a small amount of detergent for delicate fabrics. Then rinse it thoroughly to remove any detergent residue.

3. Drying

Swimsuits, like lingerie, must not be tumble dried. They should be laid flat on a flat surface, away from direct sunlight (which causes the colour to fade). Do not hang bras by the straps. They will stretch and lose their elasticity.

4. Always wear your worst swimsuit in the jacuzzi

Avoid wearing Lycra decorated with lamination or jewellery in the jacuzzi. Hot water and chlorine quickly damage the material from which the swimsuit is made. If you are a jacuzzi lover, buy the cheapest swimsuit and keep it for this occasion. You will not feel sorry when it wears out quickly.
